Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant – Neuro Expansion

About the role

The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant supports patient care in the Neurological Institute’s new state‑of‑the‑art outpatient facility. Working under the supervision of an RN or LIP, you will help deliver high‑quality care for complex neurological conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Complete the rooming process: take vitals, record height/weight, ask intake questions and report abnormal findings.
• Collect patient specimens, perform point‑of‑care testing, and prepare samples for the lab.
• Assist with exams and procedures such as EKG, Holter monitoring, pulse oximetry, hearing and vision screening, and ensure proper disinfection and sterilization.
• Administer basic treatments, change dressings, apply/remove casts, braces and splints, and document all actions in the electronic health record.
• Maintain clinic readiness by stocking supplies, monitoring expiration dates, checking AED units and oxygen tanks, and performing safety measures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED.
• At least one year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital, ambulatory, or long‑term care setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within the new‑hire period).
• Understanding of human anatomy and basic patient‑care activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Specimen collection and point‑of‑care testing techniques.
• Basic knowledge of EKG, Holter monitor, pulse oximetry, and vision/hearing screening equipment.
• Ability to perform CPR and other emergency measures.
