Outdoor Recreation and Program Coordinator (Temporary)

About the role

The Outdoor Recreation and Program Coordinator supports the Campus Sports and Recreation Department by planning and delivering outdoor excursions, intramural sports, and other programming. This temporary, part‑time position requires active, hands‑on participation and direct supervision of student participants on the Oakland campus.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, attend, and lead four off‑campus recreation excursions each semester, coordinating vendors, transportation, and safety equipment.
• Organize and supervise one multi‑day wilderness excursion per semester, teaching outdoor skills, safety protocols, and Leave No Trace principles.
• Oversee weekly intramural sports activities, supervise program assistants and referees, and assist with broader department programming.
• Drive a 10‑passenger campus vehicle, perform administrative tasks, and follow all safety and emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Reliable, self‑motivated, able to exercise sound judgment and work effectively in a team.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, and lift up to 30 lb while actively participating in outdoor activities.

Required skills

• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
