Orthopedic Cast Technician

About the role

The Cast Tech – Orthopaedics position supports the outpatient orthopaedic clinic by providing cast, brace and splint services to patients. You will work alongside nurses and physicians in a fast‑paced environment, ensuring high‑quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Measure, apply, adjust and remove casts, braces and splints.
• Repair casts and assist patients with durable medical equipment.
• Remove dressings, sutures and staples, and prepare patients for exams and procedures.
• Identify and report changes in patient status to RN or MD, and initiate CPR or emergency measures as needed.
• Maintain stocked supplies, ensure equipment is functional, and keep work areas orderly.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; graduation from an approved Medical Assistant program may offset experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one year of experience as a cast technician or in a related patient‑care setting.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment, lift and transfer patients, and stand for long periods.
