Organ Procurement Surgical Services Coordinator

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time Organ Procurement Surgical Services Coordinator in Orlando, Florida. The role coordinates the surgical recovery and distribution of organs and specimens to transplant centers, labs and airports, working days, nights, holidays and weekends on call.

Key responsibilities

• Distribute organs and/or specimens accurately to transplant centers, labs and airports.
• Upload pulsatile preservation data to the national organ sharing IT platform so potential accepting centers are notified promptly.
• Ensure the organ recovery process meets regulatory policies and organizational procedures.
• Perform perfusion, packaging, labeling and regulatory documentation for donated organs in an expedited way.
• Independently perform kidney pulsatile preservation, including cannulation, machine setup, parameter adjustments, monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of related experience.
• Strong operating room knowledge and mastery of sterile and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to multitask, make time-critical decisions and first assist (preferred).
• Knowledge of OPTN standards for organ packaging and labeling (preferred).
• Valid driver's license; Florida Level 2 background screening applies.

Required skills

• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), NCCT, RN, PA, RRT, CPTC, EMT, PARA or similar certification preferred.
• Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, and strong analytical and organizational skills.
