Optician

About the role

The Optician will work under the supervision of the Clinic Director and Optometrist at the Colusa Indian Optometry Clinic, providing support to both clinicians and patients. The role focuses on delivering courteous, empathetic service while ensuring accurate optical product preparation.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret eye exam results and prescriptions, advise patients on frames, lenses, and coatings.
• Measure customers, prepare and verify orders for glasses and contact lenses.
• Perform pre‑examination tests such as auto‑refraction, lensometry, tonometry, and visual field screening.
• Assist with frame selection, fittings, adjustments, and contact lens training.
• Handle front‑desk duties: greeting patients, scheduling, insurance verification, cash handling, and record preparation.
• Maintain clinical areas, inventory, and equipment sanitation while upholding confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in an optometry office (preferred).
• Certification in Optometric Assistant Training and contact lens fitting.
• Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with optical products and equipment.
