Optician

About the role

The Optician will provide optical care by measuring, fitting, and adapting lenses and frames according to written prescriptions. You will assist customers in selecting frames, prepare work orders for the optical laboratory, and ensure the finished glasses meet exact specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust frame and lens position for optimal vision and client comfort.
• Measure client’s bridge, eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers.
• Evaluate prescriptions in relation to the client’s visual requirements for work and leisure.
• Prepare detailed work orders and instructions for lens grinding and glass fabrication.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames that best suit client needs.
• Update patient charts with relevant information.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years of optical dispensing experience.
• ABO (American Board of Opticianry) certification required within one year of hire.
• Ability to lift and carry 40‑50 lb and stand or walk for long periods.
