OPS Education and Training Specialist

About the role

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is looking for a motivated OPS Education and Training Specialist to support employee development and workplace engagement for District 3. Based at Wekiwa Springs State Park, this 24‑hour‑per‑week temporary role focuses on designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Design, schedule, and deliver instructional sessions, onboarding events, and ongoing training.
• Create digital and print training materials such as presentations, manuals, guides, e‑learning modules, and job aids.
• Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, prepare reports, and maintain documentation.
• Coordinate logistics for training events, including travel to multiple sites and set‑up of equipment.
• Build strong relationships with staff and leadership to promote engagement and wellness initiatives.
• Provide administrative support, manage multiple projects, and ensure compliance with Chapter 215.422, F.S.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of learning principles, instructional design, and employee engagement strategies.
• Ability to plan, organize, and execute events with attention to detail.
• Capacity to lift up to 30 lb for event set‑up.
• Willingness to travel to various sites as needed.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) (preferred).
