Operating Room Registered Nurse

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a full-time, day-shift Registered Nurse for its operating room in Zephyrhills, Florida. The nurse assesses patients, develops care plans, performs therapeutic and diagnostic interventions and advocates for patient safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions and needs through comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized care plans
• Develop and implement care plans with the interdisciplinary team and document patient care accurately
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to prescribed protocols
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and post-discharge care
• Perform interventions such as IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization and specimen collection
• Maintain a sterile environment and follow infection prevention protocols
• Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families during recovery
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Associate's degree in nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
• At least 1 year of medical-surgical experience (1 year of surgery experience preferred)
• Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in English and ability to communicate effectively
• Works independently, takes direction from physicians and management, and is organized

Required skills

• Nursing skills and knowledge specific to the specialty (preferred)
• Knowledge of equipment, procedures, supplies, IV pumps, glucose monitors and sterilization policies
• EMR charting and computer literacy (Cerner preferred)

Pay range: $33.08 - $58.04. Florida Level 2 background screening applies to certain positions.
