Oncology Triage RN - Outpatient

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring an Oncology Triage RN for its outpatient cancer center. The Triage RN is the lead nurse responsible for patient throughput, triaging patient symptoms and concerns by phone or in person, educating patients and scheduling them for treatment and follow-up. The role works closely with physicians, patients, allied health staff and the scheduling team, and collaborates with the oncology infusion and radiation oncology management team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee clinic patient flow and triage to ensure timely, efficient care.
• Work with leaders and physicians to prioritize care based on acuity and resources.
• Provide direct patient care, especially during peak times or critical situations.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Stay current on triage protocols, emergency oncology care and regulatory requirements.
• Help plan, implement and evaluate department policies and procedures, and assist with scheduling and treatments.
• Take part in quality improvement projects, debriefings and case reviews.
• Assist in orienting and training new staff and promote adherence to hospital policies and Joint Commission standards.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current Florida RN license and BLS certification; Chemotherapy/Bio-therapy certification within 90 days of hire; OCN preferred.
• At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience, oncology preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 40 lbs, and to work in a stressful environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in EMR systems, preferably Epic.
• Knowledge of quality improvement principles and data analysis.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and conflict-resolution skills.
