Breast Health Specialist - RN

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Breast Health Specialist nurse. The nurse supports the physical, emotional and educational needs of patients undergoing breast procedures performed with stereotactic, ultrasound and MRI guidance, covering pre-, intra- and post-procedure care.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with radiologists in planning patient care and coordinate additional services, including surgical consults as directed by the radiologist.
• Track outcomes of biopsy recommendations and schedule breast interventional procedures.
• Assist in the Imaging Center: start IVs, access and de-access ports, administer medication under the radiologist's direction, assess patients and handle and document specimens.
• Document care in PowerChart, enter pathology results in MagView and document as needed; have a working knowledge of PACS.
• Work with the Breast Cancer Navigator to ensure continuity of care for patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
• Complete at least 2 breast-specific CEUs per year, attend in-services and stay informed about new technology.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current Florida RN license and BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Understanding of women's health across all age groups and effective teaching skills for patients, families and peers.
• Willingness to work toward becoming a Certified Breast Care Nurse.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pull/push up to 40 lbs; the job can be physically demanding.

Required skills

• Knowledge of breast imaging protocols, conditions, MQSA and ACR guidelines such as BIRADS, breast density and lay result letters.
• Proficiency in starting IVs and accessing/de-accessing ports.
• Knowledge of documentation in an EMR.
