Float Urgent Care Technician (PRN)

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring a float urgent care technician (PRN) to support its urgent care locations across Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties. The position is flexible in travel among the locations and includes cross-training to support front desk staff.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs and prepare patient medical records for providers
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection and testing according to laboratory policy and procedures
• Perform surveillance exams such as hearing tests, vision screening, spirometry and EKG, and breath alcohol and urine drug screening
• Verify insurance eligibility, enter data and monitor workflows
• Maintain chain of custody for forensic collections and understand quality control for POCT tests
• Discharge patients efficiently, promote early return to work and maintain a clean environment
• Answer phones and faxes, and act as a team player who can multitask in a fast-paced setting
• Travel flexibly among all urgent care locations and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Paramedic or EMT required; Florida licensure in the respective modality
• Experience as a paramedic, EMT or equivalent in a healthcare setting
• High school graduate or equivalent; two years of college preferred
• American Heart Association BLS certification for healthcare providers
• Office setting experience or equivalent
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 40 lbs; ability to work under stress

Required skills

• Phlebotomy and urgent care duties
• Proficiency with more than one computer system for registration, test results and billing
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills
