On-Site Infusion Nurse - Oncology Clinical Trials

About the role

IQVIA is hiring an on-site Infusion Nurse in Fairfax, VA for oncology clinical trials. The nurse must know standard oncology care practices, advocate for patient safety and protocol integrity, follow nursing standards and communicate effectively so that clinical trials run smoothly and patients receive quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Oncology care: assess and monitor therapy, assist physicians with exams and procedures, perform venipuncture and access implanted ports, document care and communicate interventions to the physician or mid-level provider.
• Teach patients and families, triage calls, refer to community resources and follow OSHA guidelines for cytotoxic agents and biohazardous waste.
• Clinical trial practice: confirm informed consent before study tasks, educate patients on study procedures and adherence to self-administered agents, and collaborate with the investigator on treatment schedule or dose changes.
• Administer investigational compounds, chemotherapy and biotherapy per protocol, collect samples, vitals and ECGs, and record all study procedures.
• Mentor less experienced nurses and keep up to date through education and professional development.

Required profile

• Current BLS and ACLS certification, or obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Registered nursing license in the state where the role is based; OCN preferred.
• IV and venous access device management skills and chemotherapy/biotherapy administration experience.
