On Call Kitchen Assistant

About the role

Our House of Portland, a residential care facility (RCF) run by CAP Northwest, is hiring a skilled, team-oriented On Call Kitchen Assistant. The role covers kitchen assistant and housekeeping duties in common areas only, supporting residents' meals and the facility's environmental needs within an interdisciplinary team approach. It is an on-call position based in SE Portland, starting at $24.28 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Report any changes or suspected changes or problems in a resident's condition immediately to the nurse on duty.
• Report all incidents and accidents involving residents to the nurse on duty.
• Create documentation that meets the needs of both roles, written and charted electronically.
• Work as a team member with staff, residents and volunteers in a cooperative environment.
• Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
• Take direction respectfully from the supervisor and deal with conflict professionally.
• Attend all staff meetings and in-services; staff must complete 12 in-service hours per year.

Required profile

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check to work in a Residential Care Facility.
• First aid certification or ability to become certified.
• Food handler's card or ability to obtain one.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
