About the role
Oliva Gibbs is seeking a detail‑oriented Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join its Texas team. The attorney will work closely with senior lawyers to deliver accurate title examinations and legal advice for oil and gas transactions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct title examinations of oil and gas properties, reviewing deeds, leases, and contracts.
- Draft title opinions identifying defects, liens, or other ownership issues.
- Perform due‑diligence reviews for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Draft, review, and negotiate leases, joint operating agreements, and purchase/sale agreements.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with litigation attorneys when disputes arise.
- Work collaboratively with the legal team to ensure seamless transaction execution.
- Meet a quarterly billable target of 450 hours.
Required profile
- Attorney with experience on legal projects involving Texas land.
- Subject‑matter expertise in oil and gas law.
- Background as a landman, in‑house counsel, compliance attorney, oil‑gas finance executive, or state regulatory counsel.
- Willingness to work on a hybrid schedule if less than three years of experience.
