Off‑Road Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The company seeks a safety‑sensitive mechanic to maintain and repair its fleet of off‑road crushing and mobile equipment. The role includes preventative maintenance, inspections, and occasional welding tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, pre‑shift inspections, and repairs on mobile equipment and crushing fleet.
• Operate and maintain company vehicles and may be responsible for welding, brazing, and cutting as needed.
• Communicate repair needs with the shop and complete other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Pass drug screen and criminal background check; maintain a safe driving record and hold a valid driver’s license (CDL beneficial).
• Three years of mechanical experience with heavy or rock‑crushing equipment, preferably in public works, construction, or dealer environments.
• Ability to work day shifts, travel to various locations, and complete DOT physical or MSHA certification if required.

Required skills

• Welding, brazing and cutting.
• Use of CAT ET program for troubleshooting and calibration.
• Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, safety rules, and maintenance manuals.
• Repair of diesel/gas engines, transmissions, torque converters, differentials, hydraulic, fuel, AC, and brake systems.
• Engine, transmission, and differential removal and installation.
