Occupational Therapist – Acute Care

About the role

The Occupational Therapist will join the Rehab Team at Martin Health North Hospital, providing acute‑care OT services to adult and geriatric patients, primarily post‑cardiac surgery. The position is PRN, working Monday‑Friday as needed with occasional weekend and holiday coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver OT interventions such as P/ROM, joint mobilization, massage, myofascial release, and desensitization techniques.
• Perform comprehensive evaluations of musculoskeletal function, sensorimotor skills, and ADL abilities, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Utilize thermal and electrical modalities including hot/cold packs, ultrasound, TENS, NMES, and biofeedback.
• Fabricate custom splints, select adaptive equipment, and train patients in their use.
• Communicate progress with physicians, nurses, case managers, and families, and document status reports.

Required profile

• Graduated from an accredited OT program (Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral).
• Current OT license in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Internship or clinical experience in an acute‑care setting preferred.

Required skills

• P/ROM and joint mobilization techniques.
• Thermal and electrical physical agent modalities (ultrasound, TENS, NMES, etc.).
• Custom splint fabrication and adaptive device selection.
• Strong documentation and interdisciplinary communication.
