OB Tech – Obstetrics Support Technician

About the role

The OB Tech provides essential supplies, equipment, and instruments for obstetric procedures, assists with room preparation, and supports licensed staff in delivering indirect patient care. This position is vital to ensuring a safe and efficient environment for mothers and newborns.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain instrumentation and equipment for changing patient needs.
• Scrub for cesarean sections according to competency standards.
• Assist nursing staff with patient care, room set‑up, and safety measures.
• Order, restock, and manage patient‑care supplies to meet daily demand.
• Follow organizational policies to ensure quality performance and compliance.
• Maintain unit‑specific competencies, including delivery set‑up, newborn testing, and post‑delivery care.
• Demonstrate service excellence aligned with the organization’s mission and values.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS CPR certification (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
• Experience in a healthcare setting – direct or indirect patient care, or as a certified STNA student.
• Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting 50 lb, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Required skills

• BLS CPR certification.
• Certified STNA (Student Nurse Aide) status.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
• Surgical experience or exposure.
