NYSA Program and Operations Intern

About the role

The NYSA Program and Operations Intern will support the daily operations of the Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA), a six‑week educational program for newly arrived refugee youth ages 5–21. Working under program staff supervision, the intern will assist in classroom activities, logistics, and meal distribution while helping create a safe and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist Leaders in Training (LIT) classes by facilitating activities, tracking participation, and encouraging engagement.
• Support Upper School beginner ESOL classes through material preparation and small‑group assistance.
• Maintain and organize inventory of camp supplies and instructional materials.
• Prepare, assemble, and distribute name tags, handouts, folders, and other program documents.
• Help set up and clean up daily activities, weekly events, and field trips.
• Distribute meals and snacks in compliance with NYC DOE guidelines, monitoring mealtime routines.
• Supervise small groups of students during structured activities and recreation time.
