Nursing Department Assistant (NDA) III – Orthopaedic and Spine Surgery

About the role

The Nursing Department Assistant III provides support to patients on the General Surgery 5D unit, assisting with daily living activities, room maintenance, and basic clinical tasks. The role works evenings from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm in a Magnet‑status hospital known for orthopaedic excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, and vital sign documentation.
• Document care provided in patient records and label specimens accurately.
• Report equipment, supply, or maintenance issues to the RN promptly.
• Conduct hourly patient safety rounds, ensuring bed alarms are active and safety measures are in place.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (within new‑hire period).
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification preferred.
• Previous nursing assistance experience preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting patients and moving equipment.
