Nursing Department Assistant (NDA) III – Med/Surg & Telemetry

About the role

The Nursing Department Assistant III provides support to adult patients on a Complex Medical Care and Telemetry unit. You will assist with daily living activities, room maintenance, and basic clinical tasks while working alongside nurses and other caregivers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with a wide variety of patient care tasks and collaborate with the health‑care team.
• Organize patient care assignments to ensure timely delivery of care.
• Document care in patient records, label specimens, and report pain to RN/LPN.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient areas and equipment.
• Perform hourly patient rounds, ensure safety measures and bed alarms are active.
• Report equipment, supply, or maintenance problems promptly.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (within new‑hire period).
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification – preferred.
• Previous nursing assistance experience – preferred.
• Physical ability to lift patients and handle equipment, stand, walk, kneel, and work under stressful conditions.

Required skills

• Performing EKGs.
• Monitoring blood glucose levels.
• Collecting specimens and documenting vital signs.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
