Nursing Department Assistant (NDA) III - Float Pool

About the role

The Float Pool at Lutheran Hospital provides caregivers the chance to support diverse patient populations across multiple departments, including medical‑surgical, telemetry, orthopedics, emergency, and behavioral health. As a Nursing Department Assistant III you will assist with daily living activities, clinical support tasks and gain broad exposure to specialty areas.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, transport, and errands.
• Perform clinical tasks under RN direction such as EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, dressing changes, colostomy care and vital signs.
• Maintain supplies, equipment function and a safe, clean environment.
• Document care in patient records, use pain scale, and conduct hourly patient rounds.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED and basic math, reading and writing skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the new‑hire period.
• Preferred: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification and prior nursing assistant experience.
