About the role
The Nursing Department Assistant III works nights in the Float Pool at Lutheran Hospital, supporting patients across multiple specialties. This entry‑level position offers exposure to a wide range of clinical areas within the Cleveland Clinic Health System.
Key responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities and maintain clean, orderly patient rooms.
- Perform EKGs, monitor blood glucose, collect specimens, and document vital signs.
- Make hourly patient safety rounds, ensure bed alarms are active, and report equipment or supply issues to the RN.
- Collaborate with the health‑care team to organize and deliver timely patient care.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within the new‑hire period).
- Physical ability to lift patients and handle equipment, with frequent standing, walking, and kneeling.
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification and prior nursing assistance experience are preferred.
Required skills
- EKG operation.
- Blood glucose monitoring.
- Specimen collection and labeling.
- Vital signs documentation.
