Nursing Department Assistant (NDA) III - Adult Psych

About the role

The Nursing Department Assistant III provides support with patient daily living activities and room maintenance on the 2B Adult Psychiatry Unit. The role also includes performing EKGs, monitoring blood glucose, collecting specimens, and documenting vital signs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with a wide variety of patient care tasks and collaborate with health‑care team members.
• Organize patient care assignments to ensure timely delivery and completion.
• Document care provided in patient records and label specimens properly.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the unit, including equipment and patient areas.
• Make hourly patient rounds to verify safety measures and activate bed alarms.
• Report equipment, supply, or maintenance problems to the RN immediately.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within the new‑hire period.
• Preferred: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification and previous nursing assistance experience.

Required skills

• Performing electrocardiograms (EKGs).
• Monitoring blood glucose levels.
• Collecting and labeling specimens.
• Documenting vital signs accurately.
