Nursing Department Assistant III – Orthopaedic & Spine Surgery

On the General Surgery 5D Unit you will care for bariatric, neurology, spinal and orthopaedic surgery patients, providing support with daily living activities and room maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with a wide variety of patient care tasks and collaborate with health‑care teams.
• Organize patient care assignments to ensure timely delivery.
• Document care provided in patient records and label specimens properly.
• Ask patients about pain and report to RN/LPN as needed.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of units and equipment.
• Clean and maintain patient/unit equipment such as over‑bed tables and bedside commodes.
• Report equipment, supply, or maintenance problems immediately to the RN.
• Make hourly patient rounds to assure safety measures are in place and ensure bed alarms are activated.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within the new‑hire period.

Required skills

• Performing EKGs.
• Monitoring blood glucose levels.
• Collecting specimens.
• Documenting vital signs.
