Nursing Department Assistant III – Adult Psychiatry

About the role

The Nursing Department Assistant III provides direct support to patients on the 2B Adult Psychiatry unit at Lutheran Hospital. Working evenings, you will assist with daily living activities, maintain a clean environment, and perform basic clinical tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities and collaborate with the health‑care team to ensure timely care delivery.
• Document care, label specimens, and report pain levels to RN/LPN as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and unit equipment, preparing rooms for new admissions.
• Perform EKGs, monitor blood glucose, collect specimens, and record vital signs.
• Conduct hourly patient rounds to verify safety measures, activate bed alarms, and report equipment or supply issues.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) obtained within the new‑hire period.
• Preferred: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification and prior nursing assistance experience.
• Physical ability to lift patients, stand for long periods, and work under stressful conditions.

Required skills
