Nursing Assistant (NDA III) – Evening Shift

About the role

The Nursing Assistant (NDA III) provides essential daily living support to patients on the 4D Medical Unit at Lutheran Hospital. Working the evening shift, you will help maintain a safe, clean environment while assisting with basic clinical tasks under RN direction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and ensure a tidy, well‑stocked patient area.
• Transport patients, run errands, and prepare rooms for new admissions.
• Perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, blood glucose monitoring, specimen collection, dressing changes, colostomy care, and vital sign documentation.
• Label specimens correctly, report pain levels to RN/LPN, and activate bed alarms during hourly rounds.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, report any equipment or supply issues promptly, and follow infection‑control precautions.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; basic math, reading, and writing skills.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification preferred.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within the new‑hire period.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate empathy.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Proficiency in performing EKGs, blood glucose checks, specimen collection, dressing changes, and colostomy care.
• Knowledge of patient safety protocols, pain assessment scales, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
