Nurse Clinician (RN) – Beto Unit

About the role

The Beto Unit seeks a competent Nurse Clinician (RN) to deliver direct nursing care to incarcerated patients within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. You will work as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, providing patient‑centered care in a secure correctional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document daily care for assigned patients.
• Develop individualized care plans, revise them as needed, and execute physician orders.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with UTMB, TDCJ, and TJJD policies.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures specific to the correctional health setting.
• Coordinate and prioritize patient care activities, serving as a resource for nursing staff.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas.
• Minimum two years of clinical RN experience (recent graduates may be considered for entry‑level positions).
• Current BLS‑HP certification.
• Ability to obtain required security clearance and pass pre‑employment drug testing.
