NP/PA - Unit Based (Inpatient)

About the role

Join Ochsner Health as an advanced practice provider working collaboratively with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff to deliver hospital medicine care on inpatient units. The role involves primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, teaching, and patient education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management for hospitalized patients, including emergency stabilization of critically ill patients.
• Collaborate with medical directors, staff physicians, nurses, discharge coordinators, and PCCs in planning and evaluating care.
• Teach residents, medical students, and staff; participate in staff development and education.
• Deliver patient education and assist with discharge planning.

Required profile

• NP: Master’s degree in Nursing; PA: Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences or graduate of an approved PA program.
• Current state license (APRN for NP, PA license and NCCPA certification for PA) with eligibility for prescriptive authority.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call.

Required skills

• Computer data entry and retrieval skills.
• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and related software.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
