Night Shift RN – Emergency Department – LaPlace

About the role

This full‑time night‑shift RN position in the Emergency Department at Ochsner in LaPlace provides direct patient care, leadership, and collaboration within a diverse, inclusive team. The role follows the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code, and Scope & Standards of Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver high‑quality patient care and assess learning needs.
• Delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members, acting as a leader on the interdisciplinary team.
• Evaluate data to promote change and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain cultural sensitivity and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to obtain CPI certification within 30 days, ACLS within 90 days, and PALS within 90 days of hire.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current or soon‑to‑be ACLS certification.
• Current or soon‑to‑be PALS certification.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
