New Graduate RN Resident – Progressive Pulmonary Care Unit

About the role

The Progressive Pulmonary Care Unit at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is a high‑acuity, 34‑bed unit caring for patients with complex pulmonary conditions. This residency offers new graduate nurses the chance to develop advanced clinical skills in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with asthma, ventilator, tracheostomy, high‑flow oxygen, BiPAP, post‑lung transplant, and pulmonary hypertension needs.
• Participate in a residency core curriculum tailored to individual learning needs.
• Document patient care accurately in medical records.
• Respond to clinical data indicating patient risk and take corrective action.
• Work day/night rotation (7:00 am‑7:30 pm or 7:00 pm‑7:30 am) with weekend and holiday coverage.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, or BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross.
• New graduate RN or less than one year of RN work experience.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support certification.
• RN licensure and ability to practice independently.
• Knowledge of high‑acuity pulmonary therapies such as ventilator and BiPAP management.
• Physical ability to handle patient care tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
