Music Therapist – Avon Hospital

About the role

The Music Therapist provides comprehensive clinical therapy services to hospitalized patients and their families, using music to address mental and physical health needs. This position works primarily on‑site at Avon Hospital with a split schedule between the Avon and Main Campus locations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate music therapy interventions tailored to the biopsychosocial needs of patients and families.
• Serve as a clinical and educational resource on music therapy for hospital units and the broader professional community.
• Participate in research activities, including developing protocols, gathering data, and assisting with manuscript preparation.
• Support the Music Therapy Department in program development, evaluation, and coordination of observation experiences.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an AMTA‑accredited program.
• Licensed Professional Music Therapist (LPMT) or Board Certified Music Therapist (MT‑BC) with LPMT obtained within 90 days of hire.
• At least one year of experience providing music therapy services (including practicum or internship).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and perform therapy tasks as described.
