Munitions Handler

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Munitions Handler to join its team in Hawthorne, Nevada, supporting the Hawthorne Army Depot. The role covers warehousing and demilitarization duties involving stock movement, inventory and the disassembly and destruction of munitions in controlled environments. A Secret US Government clearance is required, which means US citizenship.

Key responsibilities

• Movement of ordnance items or components into and out of storage, physical inventory, storage arrangement, inspection, loading and packaging
• Destruction and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components, including operating automated systems in the demilitarization process
• Follow local, state and federal compliance documents and procedures, and work safely in line with environmental regulations
• Operate mobile equipment such as MHE, vehicles and tools, and use programs such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) and AIT scanning tools
• Record and report munition accountability and discrepancies, remove dunnage and keep work areas clean and secure
• Complete the required training within 90 days of hire and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• 18 years of age or older; high school diploma or equivalent
• 0-1 year of general work experience
• Valid driver's license with a clean MVR
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (US citizenship required)
• Willingness to work overtime, varying hours and rotating shifts, and to wear personal protective equipment
• Preferred: experience with lifting devices, hazardous materials, unexploded ordnance and production environments

Required skills

• Willingness and ability to be trained to operate forklifts or material handling devices
• Computer literacy in common software and office equipment
• Ability to speak clearly in normal and crisis situations and to work as a team player
