Munitions Handler

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Munitions Handler to join its team in Hawthorne, Nevada, supporting the Hawthorne Army Depot. The role covers warehousing and demilitarization duties involving stock movement, inventory and the disassembly and destruction of munitions in controlled environments. A Secret US Government clearance is required, which means US citizenship.

Key responsibilities

• Movement of ordnance items or components into and out of storage, physical inventory, storage arrangement, loading and packaging
• Destruction and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components, including operating automated systems in the demilitarization process
• Follow local, state and federal compliance documents and procedures, and work safely in line with environmental regulations
• Operate mobile equipment such as MHE and vehicles, and computer programs such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP)
• Record and report munition accountability and discrepancies, remove dunnage and keep work areas clean and secure
• Complete the required training within 90 days of hire, work overtime and rotating shifts, and wear personal protective equipment

Required profile

• 18 years of age or older, high school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a clean MVR; must pass a personnel security investigation, drug test, medical exam and respiratory screening
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (US citizenship required)
• Willingness to be trained on forklifts and material handling equipment, and to work in a hazardous materials environment
• Preferred: experience with lifting devices, unexploded ordnance and hazardous materials

Required skills

• Computer literacy in common software and ability to use office equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a safety-sensitive position
