Munitions Handler

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Munitions Handler to join its team in Hawthorne, Nevada, supporting the Hawthorne Army Depot. The role covers warehousing and demilitarization duties involving stock movement, inventory and the disassembly and destruction of munitions in controlled environments. A Secret US Government clearance is required, which means US citizenship.

Key responsibilities

• Move ordnance items or components into and out of storage, handle physical inventory, arrange storage, inspect, load and package them
• Process explosive ordnance items manually, technically and with mechanical assistance
• Destruction and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components, including operating automated systems
• Follow local, state and federal compliance documents and procedures, and work safely with attention to environmental regulations
• Operate mobile equipment such as MHE, vehicles and tools, and use programs such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) and AIT scanning tools
• Record and report munition accountability and discrepancies, remove dunnage and keep work areas clean and safe
• Complete the required training within 90 days of hire and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Age 18 or older, high school diploma or equivalent, 0-1 year of general work experience
• Valid driver's license with a clean MVR, and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
• Willingness to work overtime, varying hours and rotating shifts, and to wear personal protective equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work with machinery and power tools, and speak clearly in normal and crisis situations
• Must pass a personnel security investigation, drug test, medical exam and respiratory screening

Required skills

• Computer literacy in common software and general office equipment
• Willingness and ability to be trained to operate forklifts or material handling devices
• Preferred: experience with lifting devices, hazardous materials, unexploded ordnance and production environments
