Motor Fuels Tax Consultant (Excise Tax)

About the role

Ryan is hiring a Motor Fuels Tax Consultant in Atlanta. Working with a team, the consultant identifies tax savings for clients and helps them understand how each component of fuels tax is computed. The role involves researching and analysing federal, multi-state and local fuels tax issues, reconciling databases and completing detailed calculations.

Key responsibilities

• Create a positive team experience.
• Communicate with clients and others, both in writing and verbally.
• Research and analyse federal, multi-state and local fuels tax issues and share the results with management.
• Gather data, enter it and prepare fuels tax refund claims.
• Work with data in Microsoft Access and Excel formats to prepare refund claims.
• Pull and copy invoices to support refund claims.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Information Systems, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or another degree with a Master's in a business discipline or a JD.
• 9 hours of accounting or equivalent technical courses with a 3.0 GPA or higher, and a major GPA of 3.25 or higher.
• One to three years of related accounting and auditing experience.
• Valid driver's license; no supervisory responsibilities.

Required skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and Outlook.
• Internet navigation and research.
