Morning Child Watch Staff

About the role

The YMCA is seeking a Morning Child Watch Staff member to provide safe, fun, and engaging supervision for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years while parents participate in Healthy Living activities. Shifts run from 8:30 am to 12 pm, lasting no more than five hours.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of children at all times and never leave them unattended.
• Create a stimulating, family‑club atmosphere by playing with children, facilitating activities, and maintaining a clean environment free of choking hazards.
• Learn and follow all emergency procedures, use first‑aid equipment, and keep the room inspected for hazards each morning.
• Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as directed by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children in babysitting, child‑care, or school settings.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children.

Required skills

• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or obtain within 90 days of employment).
• Child Abuse Prevention training (or obtain within 90 days of employment).
