Mobile Service Technician - Light Equipment

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Mobile Service Technician (MST) in Milltown, NJ, who maintains and repairs light construction equipment such as skid steers, chippers, trenchers and mini-excavators at store locations or customer job sites. The schedule is Sunday to Thursday, and candidates must live within 20 miles of Milltown, NJ. The position reports to the regional Field Operations Manager and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a fleet of rental equipment with an emphasis on preventive maintenance, making routine store visits to inspect and service every unit
• Perform minor repairs, respond to service calls, order parts and document all work using the company technology platform
• Train store associates and customers on equipment operation and adhere to safety requirements, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
• Maintain MEWP certifications, accurate parts and fleet inventory, and transfer equipment between locations
• Deploy new equipment to stores, including pre-delivery inspections and training
• Handle occasional overnight travel (less than 10%) and assist with equipment deliveries and pickups

Required profile

• Age 21 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• DOT medical certification and specific vision requirements
• Physical demands: lifting, standing, climbing, working at heights and exposure to dust, fumes or odors
• Resides within 20 miles of Milltown, NJ

Required skills

• Preferred: 1+ year of experience servicing construction equipment, including small engines and hydraulics
• Preferred: ability to read technical repair and parts manuals
• Preferred: familiarity with inventory management and handheld devices
• Preferred: valid driver's license

Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents: $25.00 - $27.00.
