Mobile Lounge Operator

About the role

The Mobile Lounge Operator works in the Airport Operations Department at Washington Dulles International Airport, transporting passengers safely between terminals and aircraft using large mobile lounges.

Key responsibilities

• Operate Budd and Plane‑Mate lounges, handling up to 150 passengers per trip and managing hydraulic and control systems.
• Unlock and re‑secure terminal gates, start engines, perform gauge checks, and follow authorized lanes while monitoring radios.
• Assist airline attendants with door operations, monitor passenger walkways, and adjust lounge floor level as needed.
• Inspect lounges after use for lost items, report equipment problems, and drive lounges to maintenance as required.
• Provide extensive customer service, including assistance to non‑English speakers and passengers with special needs.

Required profile

• Five years of experience driving large commercial or passenger vehicles with a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver’s License, or equivalent airport vehicle experience.
• Physical ability to exert peak forces up to 79 lb and bear loads of approximately 36 lb.
• Ability to follow safety, security, and emergency procedures for large vehicle operation on an active airfield.
• Effective communication skills, especially with non‑English speakers, and professional customer‑service demeanor.

Required skills

• Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Proficiency with vehicle radios and basic computer/time‑attendance systems.
