Mobile Equipment Operator – Roadway Striping

About the role

The Mobile Equipment Operator works with the District 08 Traffic Operations Striping Crew to maintain roadway pavement markings across seven parishes. The position involves operating a variety of equipment outdoors in all weather conditions while ensuring safety and compliance with DOTD standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate striping vehicles, heavy equipment, and related tools to apply and maintain pavement markings.
• Perform routine visual and physical safety inspections of equipment and address minor repairs or corrective actions.
• Prepare roadway surfaces, install raised pavement markers, place traffic control devices, and flag traffic as needed.
• Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Complete light computer tasks related to equipment logs and reporting.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated individual able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work in inclement weather.
• Physical capability to sit, squat, walk, bend, and climb as required.
• Compliance with Louisiana civil service regulations and DOTD policies.

Required skills

• Basic computer operation for record‑keeping.
• Valid Class A driver’s license (required for Mobile Equipment Operator 2 & Heavy 1).
