Mobile Equipment Operator – Large Mowers & Tractors

About the role

The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 is responsible for safely operating large mowers and tractors across the LSU campus and designated off‑site locations. The role supports landscape and construction crews by ensuring timely and efficient grounds‑maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate large mowers and tractors (25‑125 HP) equipped with bush hogs, flails, finish mower decks, and side bush hogs – approximately 75% of the time.
• Collaborate with landscape and construction crews on various grounds‑maintenance tasks – about 10% of duties.
• Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, greasing, minor repairs, and maintain accurate equipment records – roughly 10% of duties.
• Execute additional tasks as assigned – around 5% of duties.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year of experience operating mobile equipment.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including overtime and weekends.
• Physical capability to lift 50 lb, climb ladders, and stoop, kneel, or bend for extended periods.
• Willingness to undergo drug/alcohol testing and a pre‑employment physical examination.
