Mobile Equipment Operator 2 – Truck Driver & Moving Specialist

About the role

The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 provides logistical and labor support for university departments, special events, and moving projects across the campus. Working Monday‑Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the role may require occasional extended hours or weekend work to meet university needs.

Key responsibilities

• Operate stake‑body or flat‑bed trucks (GVW 10,000‑26,000 lb) to transport equipment, furnishings, chemical drums, and other materials.
• Direct loading and unloading of vehicles, oversee material handling, and perform labor tasks associated with moving services.
• Supervise laborers, helpers, Mobile Equipment Operator 1s, and custodial staff during moving, hauling, and special‑event setups.
• Operate boom trucks (8,000 lb boom, 22,000 lb GVW), forklifts, and scissor lifts for heavy‑load handling.
• Conduct power‑washing, pick‑up, and delivery of surplus property, verifying tags and inventory records.

Required profile

• Experience operating a variety of university‑type vehicles and material‑handling equipment.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate a team of laborers and student workers.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for heavy‑load transport and equipment operation.
• Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when required.
