About the role

The Mobile Equipment Operator 2 is responsible for safely operating large mowers and tractors across the LSU campus and designated off‑site locations. The role supports landscape and construction crews while ensuring equipment is maintained in a ready and safe condition.

Key responsibilities

• Operate large mowers and tractors (25 HP‑125 HP) equipped with bush hogs, flails, finish mower decks, and side bush hogs for campus mowing activities.
• Collaborate with landscape and construction crews to perform various grounds‑maintenance tasks.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, cleaning, greasing, minor repairs, and record‑keeping to keep equipment inspection‑ready.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including emergency campus reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of experience operating mobile equipment.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including overtime and weekends.
• Physical capability to lift 50 lb, climb ladders, and stoop, kneel, or bend for extended periods.
• Subject to drug/alcohol testing and a pre‑employment physical examination.
• Valid Class E driver’s license.
