MFM High Risk OB Ultrasound Technologist

About the role

Optum New York (formerly Optum Tri-State NY), part of UnitedHealth Group, is hiring an MFM High Risk OB Ultrasound Technologist in Monroe, NY. The position covers the clinical aspects of the ultrasonography suite, including scanning, patient care and quality control, with a $10,000 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound scans according to guidelines, identify anatomical orientation on images and ensure proper file identification
• Greet patients, obtain history, explain the procedure and follow-up, and enter information into the computer system
• Maintain quality standards, including HIPAA compliance, and perform quality assurance on images and equipment
• Keep logs, process paperwork for biopsies, and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms and stock supplies
• Assist in the ACR accreditation process every three years and maintain CPR certification
• Provide coverage for call-outs or extended patient schedules, mentor new hires and contribute to efficient outpatient operations
• Communicate with radiologists, physicians, patients and their families, and review each examination for technical accuracy before presenting it to the radiologist

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited course in ultrasonography
• ARDMS certification or ability to obtain it
• Preferred: associate or baccalaureate degree in radiography or sonography and 5+ years of experience as an ultrasound technologist
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate with patients, visitors and colleagues
• Ability to use the department's computerized system and its devices

Required skills

• Demonstrated ability to use or learn the department's computerized system and associated devices
• Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds and patients up to 300 pounds
• Eyesight correctable to 20/20
