About the role
The Mental Health Technician provides direct care and therapeutic support to psychiatric inpatients at Lehigh Valley Health Network. This part‑time position works on the adolescent psych unit, assisting with patient monitoring, clinical procedures, and multidisciplinary treatment planning.
Key responsibilities
- Document client behaviors and chart observations in the electronic medical record.
- Respond to emergency/crisis calls, triage calls, and assist front‑line responders.
- Assist residents with physical care, hygiene, and activities of daily living in line with treatment goals.
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, blood‑sugar checks, and bladder scans.
- Contribute to treatment plan revisions, orientation of new staff, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Required profile
- High School Diploma/GED with at least one year of experience in a related human‑services field or equivalent college credits.
- Minimum six months of direct care experience, including individual and group counseling, preferably in an acute behavioral health setting.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality, adapt to emergencies, and communicate clearly.
Required skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association (AHA) certification.
- Proficiency in performing EKGs, phlebotomy, blood‑sugar monitoring, and bladder scans.
