Medical Technologist / Lab Technician – Clinical Microbiology

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is seeking a night‑shift Medical Technologist/MLT/Lab Technician to perform and interpret clinical microbiology tests. This position works the 8:30 pm – 7:00 am shift and contributes directly to patient care by delivering accurate laboratory results.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting according to laboratory procedures.
• Maintain quality control, document calibrations, and address any QC/QA issues promptly.
• Ensure instruments are maintained per manufacturer specifications and perform proficiency testing under CLIA regulations.
• Identify and resolve problems affecting test performance or results, notifying supervisors as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• Meets CLIA high‑complexity testing qualifications (grandfathering clause).
• Certification eligible or certified as MT, MLT or MLS by ASCP or AMT is preferred.
• Ability to work night shifts and follow strict documentation practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PCR techniques.
• Experienced pipetting and specimen manipulation.
• Knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory quality‑control procedures.
• Instrument maintenance and calibration skills.
