Medical Technologist – Avon Hospital

About the role

The Medical Technologist will perform and interpret laboratory tests of all complexity levels at Avon Hospital, a Magnet‑recognized facility within the Cleveland Clinic Health System. This PRN position works evening or night shifts, providing critical diagnostic support to patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, reporting, and record‑keeping.
• Maintain regulatory compliance with CLIA and other quality‑control policies, including instrument calibration and proficiency testing.
• Identify and resolve test performance issues or promptly notify supervisory staff.
• Educate and train students, residents, and staff on laboratory techniques and safety protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
• Meets CLIA qualifications for high‑complexity testing personnel (grandfathering clause).
• Certification eligible or certified as a Medical Technologist (MT, MLT, MLS) by ASCP or AMT preferred.
