Medical Records Technician

About the role

The Medical Records Technician at UAMS Health Benton/Bryant manages patient information, ensuring accurate capture, indexing, and retrieval of health records to support billing and clinical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Capture high‑quality images of documents and correctly assign them to patient CSN numbers and document types.
• Create and process inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room batches quickly and accurately.
• Index, subtitle, split, merge, or append documents as needed and route batches to the appropriate queues.
• Review daily queues, follow workflow procedures, and ensure timely processing across multiple record systems, including Epic.
• Provide support for Health Information Management and other clinical departments to maintain accurate patient information.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of administrative experience.
• Preferred: one year of medical records experience.

Required skills

• Experience with electronic health record systems, specifically Epic.
• Ability to accurately index and manage scanned medical documents.
