Vascular Sonographer – Benton/Bryant

About the role

The Vascular Sonographer position is based at UAMS Health Benton/Bryant and involves performing high‑quality non‑invasive vascular examinations. The role requires technical expertise, critical thinking, and effective communication with patients and the healthcare team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform lower‑ and upper‑extremity venous and arterial duplex examinations, carotid, renal, and visceral duplex studies.
• Measure pressures, document preliminary findings, and communicate urgent results to ordering physicians.
• Participate in after‑hours call coverage, including weekends and holidays.
• Maintain patient safety, privacy, and comfort throughout examinations.
• Assist in student and resident education and contribute to quality‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program with high school diploma/GED.
• RVT preferred or eligible for ARDMS registry within six months of hire; registration as a Vascular Technologist within six months is required.
• At least 1 + years of clinical experience in vascular sonography.
• CPR certification and ability to meet continuing education requirements.

Required skills

• Vascular sonography and duplex ultrasound techniques.
• Pressure measurement and interpretation.
• Use of EPIC for documentation and CPT coding.
• Ability to identify and report critical findings such as deep vein thrombosis or severe carotid stenosis.
