About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technologist provides clinical diagnostic testing within the Student Health Center, supporting primary care, gynecology and specialty services. The role emphasizes quality, collaboration, and accurate reporting of laboratory results.

Key responsibilities

• Calibrate, operate, and perform performance checks on laboratory equipment, documenting results and investigating any issues.
• Interpret, verify, and report test results using the lab information system and electronic health record, notifying providers of critical values.
• Perform venipunctures, collect and label specimens, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety and HIPAA regulations.
• Assist with data entry, billing information, and support quality improvement and accreditation activities.

Required profile

• Current Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist‑Generalist or Specialist license.
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology/clinical laboratory science with at least one year of experience, or a related science degree with two years of experience.
• Ability to work occasional nights and weekends and to respond to emergencies as an essential employee.
