Medical Laboratory Technician - Hematology

About the role

IQVIA Laboratories in Valencia, CA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician specializing in hematology. The role is office-based and covers routine hematology and laboratory testing, with accurate documentation, data review and compliance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements. It is scheduled Tuesday to Saturday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document analytical procedures according to standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines
• Review routine data to confirm procedures are performing as expected and results are within acceptable tolerances
• Identify unusual results or performance issues and escalate them to senior laboratory personnel
• Prepare data analysis results for upload into the Laboratory Information Management System under the guidance of senior staff
• Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment as assigned
• Support quality investigations, deviations, procedural updates and implementation of laboratory changes
• Guide entry-level staff on routine procedures and support onboarding and hands-on training

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; some College of American Pathologists and CLIA locations may require a Bachelor of Science in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory technology or cytotechnology
• 6 months of experience in a regulated laboratory environment
• Working knowledge of regulatory standards such as Good Laboratory Practices
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, infection control, standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand and walk frequently, and perform close eye work

Required skills

• Proficiency with laboratory techniques, automation or specialized equipment and Laboratory Information Management System workflows
• Routine and some non-routine laboratory calculations, including averages, means, standard deviations and quality control metrics
• Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

The stated base pay range is $41,400 to $86,100 per year, depending on qualifications, location and schedule; additional compensation may depend on the position offered.
